UPDATE!
Hi all, we just wanted to give you an update in regards to what we are currently working on. After a positive interview with officials from the
Department for Education in May, The Heyfordian School Trust is now eagerly
awaiting the final decision in regards to the Heyford Park Free School. We have
been told we will hear around the beginning of July and will of course
send out an update as soon as we hear. Fingers crossed but everything so far is
moving in the right direction! Of course the process is incredibly competitive, but we feel our answers to their questions were robust and they were very fair to us.
In the meantime, we wanted to inform you of a few
interesting projects we are currently working on at the moment.
DESIGN
OF THE LOGO, CREST AND MOTTO FOR THE SCHOOL- now we are this far in the
application process, the Heyford Park Free School is truly beginning to feel
like a real school. We feel it is time to think more about how the school
should look, and which elements of our distinctive ethos are the most important
and should therefore be visually represented. Ideas currently flying around
include designs that focus on our history (planes, water tower, hardened
aircraft shelter etc.) and designs that try a evoke the community feeling we
hope this school will have (an adult holding hands with a child, a roof
sheltering lots of people etc.). We really want parents to be involved in the
design process. So, if anyone has any ideas they feel strongly about, please either
post them on the this Blog or call or email Sarah on 01869 238200/ s.mccready@dorchestergrp.com. These will then be included in our design
consultation. Once a variety of logos has been designed to this specification,
we will put the four most popular to a parental panel made up of ten registered
parents from across the area in order to decide the final design. If you are
interested in being a member on this panel, please can you get in contact with Sarah.
PARENTS
WORKSHOP- As mentioned in a previous update, our educationalists will be
holding a workshop in June to help parents understand how the curriculum for
the Heyford Park Free School has developed and to alleviate any concerns that
our first cohort will be “guinea pigs”. We are still waiting to finalise a
date, but it is likely this will be the 27th June (but we will send
out another update as soon as this has been confirmed). If your children
are eligible for 2013 intake at either Reception or Year 7 and you are
interested in attending, please email Sarah at s.mccready@dorchestergrp.com to
reserve a place. We can only offer this to a maximum of 15 parents at this
stage, so please reserve your space as quickly as possible to avoid
disappointment.
